Here are few shots from a recent evening event photography commission in Birmingham. The shoot was a charity event in support of Dementia UK. The evening was organised by CPW at the Button Factory in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter.
The photography brief included shots of delegates networking, speaker shots of representatives of the host company and the supported charity as well as wider shots and the band entertainment.
This formed a fairly typical brief for an event photographer. The lighting in the area changed fast during the event – from pleasant and easy to work with natural light during the early evening, to a quite dark environment with strong directional artificial lighting later. This needed a careful choice of angles and controlled use of flash to give pleasing shots retaining the ambience of the space.
